Flight

Our flight home on Christmas Eve was almost a disaster. When we checked in at the Montrose, CO airport we found out our flight was 3+ hours delayed (which meant we would miss all of our connections). The woman at the desk cheerfully told us that she could get us home by 4pm the following day (Christmas Day). She was planning to have us fly to Chicago at 3pm on Christmas Eve and then hang out at the airport with 11 month old twins for 20 hours and catch an 11am flight from Chicago to DC and then DC to Charleston on Christmas day...I politely told her I didn't think that would work out very well for us or anyone else in the Chicago airport. To make a long story short, the woman at the desk was very patient and eventually found a way to get us all home by by 11:45pm Christmas Eve...and she put us in first class! Our seats were amazing. They actually reclined completely to make a bed. It was like the twins had their own little playroom during the flight!

Telluride, Colorado

We just returned from 2 weeks in Colorado visiting Grampy and Yia Yia. The twins loved the snow! Some highlights of the trip were sledding, ice skating, playing with Buster the dog, finally getting to ride in the car facing forward (and getting to watch DVDs while in the car!), spending time with grampy and yia yia, and of course opening presents!

Playing the guitar with Daddy

Brian has been playing the guitar for the twins and they love it! Parker sings and dances and Rylee usually just watches, but today she decided it was her turn to play the guitar!

Cruising!

Today the twins found a box to play with and it was way more fun than any of their toys. However, the next thing I see is Rylee pushing the box and walking behind it! We quickly grabbed the camera because this is the first time she has ever attempted to walk. Parker has been pulling up consistently since yesterday so given how long Rylee has been pulling up before trying to walk (more than a month) we were VERY surprised when Parker crawled up to the box, pulled himself up and began pushing and walking too! Luckily we were already recording Rylee so we got it all on camera! However...apparently the video is too big so I have been having trouble getting it to upload. Here are two individual smaller videos of the twins cruising. They are not as good as the one of them doing it together, but you'll get the idea :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I think the twins enjoyed their first Thanksgiving. They had special bibs to wear (Thanks Grandma Sullivan!) and they got to try lots of new food. They had turkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, stuffing, pumpkin spice bread and they even tasted some pumpkin cheesecake.

Helping in the Kitchen

The twins helped daddy in the kitchen yesterday. They had a blast playing with a turkey roasting pan, foil pie pans, a newspaper, and various cooking utensils. They didn't want to be left out of any of the thanksgiving preparations!

10 months old!

I can't believe the twins are 10 months old already! They aren't walking yet, but Rylee is VERY close! She is cruising around furniture and can stand for a few seconds without holding on to anything. Parker can pull himself up, but most of the time chooses not to! He must really really really want something if he is going to exert the energy to pull himself up. He is such a funny little guy!

We got the twins photos taken today and I cannot believe how much they have changed since their 6 month photos...they're growing up so fast!

YAY Parker!!

Rylee has been pulling herself up to standing for about a month now which has allowed her to get into all kinds of things (like the toilet, dryer, dishwasher, etc!). Poor Parker has been following her around watching but just couldn't figure out how to pull himself up to join in the fun. Today Rylee was playing with the dishwasher and Parker watched for a couple of minutes and next thing I know he is standing right next to her!! I'm sure I won't be quite this excited when I find two babies bobbing for bath toys in the toilet!

Rolly Pollies

The twins and I went to open gym at Rolly Pollies with our mom's group. We've been before, but this was the first time that both babies were able to crawl, climb, and play. Rylee is fearless. She climbs up on everything (and falls off occasionally!) and she tries to play with all of the kids. Parker likes to ride the car, play with beach balls, and watch other kids playing. He isn't much of a climber yet. We are thinking about having the twins' 1st birthday party at Rolly Pollies!

Time to childproof the bathroom!

Today while changing Parker I thought to myself, "Rylee is awfully quiet...this cannot be good!". So I hurried with Parker and went in search of Rylee. This is where Parker and I found her!

Boone Hall Plantation

We took the kids to the Boone Hall Plantation Pumpkin Patch with our friend Christy and her two kids (McKenna and Evan). We have gotten a lot of rain so we were worried it would be very muddy, but it wasn't bad at all. And luckily, the rest of Charleston must have thought it was muddy too because we pretty much had the place to ourselves! The kids played in the Hay (and ate some too!), got to feed some goats, went on a hay ride, and even picked their own little pumpkins!

First Halloween Party

We took Parker and Rylee to the Charleston Area Mothers of Multiples Halloween Party today. Here are some pictures from their day!

Car ride to the Party!

Daddy getting us dressed in our costumes!

Aren't we cute?!?!

(Notice the banana in Parker's pocket. It is attached to the costume, but Parker kept trying to eat it!)

9 months

Parker and Rylee had their 9 month check-up today. Both babies are doing great and Parker is still 4 pounds heavier than Rylee! Parker is 22 pounds and 29.5 inches (75th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference). Rylee is 18 pounds and 29.5 inches (25th percentile for weight, 75-95th percentile for height, and 75th for head circumference).

Future WSU Cougars

The twins are wearing their first Cougar Jackets...Thanks Grandma!
